I'd recomend the public stands / beer garden area for a first timer.

Weekend racing is held at Shatin racecourse. Happy Valley racing is on Wednesday evenings. The cheapest entrance is Gate G at Happy Valley and costs HK$10 to get in. Buy a South China Morning Post that day and take the section called 'Racing Post' with you.
Enjoy

If want to live it up get a tourist badge which lets you loose in the members section

If you alone or in a small group then the beer garden or the public enclosure can be daunting. Then head for www.hkadrenaline.com

I personally favour the Leading Edge 5th Floor which has a buffet and open bar : call 1817 for bookings [credit card]

Happy Valley is usually only racing on Wednesday eveings, and can be pretty boring on a weekend unless you don't mind watching Shatin racing on the tv.

in case you are going tonight

Tut just got your message!!! Just my luck Let me know how it went and if youve still got some money left and want to come at the weekend it would be good to have some experienced gamblers on side
