Anyone have any suggestions for fun long weekend getaways that are inexpensive, but nice? Anything suitable for families with 2 small children?

How about Singapore? There's a lot for kids to do there, its an easy place to get around with strollers etc., taxis are easy and cheap. Sing Air and Cathay have great deals too... just $990 a ticket. Besides that, Macau, Phuket, Hua Hin? I guess it depends on what kind of holiday you want, beachy or sightseeing.

How about Guam ?? Flights departs on friday night, and return on monday night. Plenty of water activites!

Shamian Island, Guang Zhou. Stay at White Swan Hotel. Many children clothes shops around that area (mostly girl's) because of the adoption activities taken place in the hotel. If you don't mind people asking you that your children are "newly adopted?" then this is a nice place to stay (inexpensive compared to HK) with great restaurants and nice garden around the island.

Guilin and Yang Shuo are lovely too.
