I have exactly the same problem!!! :-((( Using PCCW Broadband at home.
Everywhere where I have been before, it was working perfectly (France, England, Sweden, Indonesia), apart from Moscow and now Hong Kong.

When receiving emails, there is no problem at all... everything works perfectly. But when sending emails, it always fails....

And quite weird: Early this year, I lived in a hotel for 4 weeks - both sending and receiving was working well, no problems occured.

However, I m using the mail server settings from my German ISP "1and1", their support is absolutely clueless.

Maybe someone can help??

If it works with PCCW's server then it must be a restriction imposed by your company. Doesn't hurt to try a test email.

DB, I d like to keep my German email adress for some purposes.
But when I use PCCW server I guess I have to use my @netvigator email address?! Pls. correct me if I m wrong...
And as said, in the Hotel where I stayed it worked perfectly.

And no, no excessive security / firewall settings!

You can still keep your original address when using PCCW's SMTP server but you will need to use SMTP server authentication using your netvigator's userID/password.

In theory you should be able to use whatever email address you like. You just use PCCW's smtp server to send emails out and they should be stamped with your own email address. Just try it and send one to a web-based email account to see.

i have no firewall or anti-virus crap...i gots a mac...so no need


now if i send through my netvigator account, will i have restrictions on size of attachhments, or anything else like that?

we send a lot of attachments back and forth, and it needs to be able to handle it....after looking at netvigators site....their email blows....
