Guys, Need your advise/suggestion on this..

I've been in technical line in my company for over 10 years and all of a sudden due to org changes I've been asked to take up project mgmt role recently.

Is there any scope for IT PMs??

The finer things in life come to those who wait.

One of the things a project manager will definately have to do is predict timeframes.

On a more serious note, you'd have to look at your job description and what other PMs in your office do. Do you want to do what your job description says? Do you have alternatives?

There are a few project managers on the site, but I figure they're too busy project managing to reply during work hours.

Hey IT PM, maybe you can consider hiring me if you need some IT support guys in your team hehe . I speak fluent cantonese and english. I have worked in the IT field since college, up until actually when Windows XP came out, they laid off my team and I was working off the internet by myself. Every PM I have been with, were under ALOT of pressure and stress. And YOU are placed in a position to be FIRED when someone else messes up because YOU are suppose to be in charge. Anyways, I'm sure you'll do well! :P
