on the egg tarts score there is a shop that sells them that was once visited by the governor and hence became a tourist destination, not sure where it is mind! (but i know it moved down the road some time ago)

smelly tofu- Mongkok/ Prince Edward. Just walk around and you will smell it.

Spicy/Curry fishballs- There is a great place right across from Seibu in Causeway bay. Otherwise Tsim Sha Tsui has them everywhere (Exit A)

Anywhere there is a high density of people like Apliu Street Sham Shui Po, Argyle Street Mong Kok, Nelson Street Mong Kok ... infact all over the place.
Egg tarts as Laughing Monkey says have been in the news recently with the closure of a place on Lyndhurst Terrace Central which it was said Chris Patten used to frequent. That place has since re-opened ho hum. But you can get them in the local bakeries which are everywhere too.

Speaking of the guv, he [Lord Patten] is slated to come on Radio 3 tommorrow at 8.30am, to tell us how much he misses the nice inexpensive 'taan tarts'.

He might also get around to telling us about his latest tome.

Er, I think he turned down the knighthood, never mind the lordship...

He's speaking at the FCC on Saturday lunchtime as well.

If you're visiting HK and enjoy Canto food you must visit Maxim's Palace at City Hall for yum-cha / dim-sum (don't know the difference) at lunchtime. Get there around 12 because it gets very busy. They have too many delicious choices to mention but make sure you get your hands on some char siu bau (barbequed pork buns)! The HK Tourism website even has a list of common items you'll find, it might help to print a copy and take it with you in case you encounter language difficulties.

You go for yum-cha (means "drink tea") in order to eat the dim-sum and other delicacies.
