Cool I live in Kam Tin

Hi there !

Well as far as I'm a newbie in this thing, I'll say hello to everybody.

Well, as mentioned in the title, I'm going to move in Kam Tin in 2

weeks, yesssssss, in the countryside, very nice.

Does someone know how to avoid taking the motorway from Kam Tin

to Kowloon, or closer, I just want to avoid spending 50$ every day.

There must be a backroad somewhere.

Cheers anyway

Tartampion

There are back roads in the area but the drive will be twice as long! $22 for going thorough the Tai Lam tunnel is not a lot of money. The only alternatives are to follow the small roads out of Kam Tim to the east (Lam Kam Road/Fan Kam Road) and then find the Route Twisk down to Tsuen Wan.

There is one road to the west as well but as you have to travel south I'm not sure if you're able to get on it before the tunnel. That takes you down towards the Tsing Lung Tau area just south of the Tai Lam Country Park.

Beware though, a single accident on these roads will have them closed for hours at a time. Here in HK, even if people just have a simple rear end shunt they leave their cars where they are and sort things out rather than move the cars to the side of the road! Remember also that wherever you park your car you will have to pay! You may find with the costs and hassle that it makes more sense to get the bus sometimes!

Cool

To Angiebaby80 :

Yes I know, there's the kcr, but I'm working in Aberdeen, Wong chuk Hang Rd, Since I'm still living in Sham Shui Po for few more days,
I'm taking the bus to there (171), but 2 weeks later, I'll have to
take from Kam Tin : minibus, kcr,mtr then bus. That's why I'm planning to drive down to Aberdeen.

Thanks anyway for you help.

If you're going to Aberdeen remember there are 2 more tunnels to use, either the Cross Harbour at Hung Hom ($20 each way) or Western Tunnel ($40). Then there is the Aberdeen Tunnel that you'll have to go through at $5 each way. If you really want to keep the tunnel costs down you're going to have to go well out of your way, and with petrol as expensive as it is will you really be saving that much?
