Going back to the States

Hey everyone,

I am getting ready to leave HK (mid-December) and was wanting to get a some tvs before I headed back. Does anyone have any idea if I would even save any money from buying the tvs here and shipping them back?

I'm looking at trying to purchase 4 plasmas - 42" each. I'm thinking the Panasonics are what I want because I want something that is going to last. I'm also looking to purchase 5 smaller 21" lcd tv/computer monitors.

Any suggestions?

TIA!

c

Whoah, the shipping costs are going to be sky high for those, doubt you'd save any money by doing it that way.

I trust your company is paying for your relocation costs? Otherwise the shipping costs will kill you. Also, you want to make sure that the tvs that you purchase come with International Warranties. Some of the stores here sell product with only local warranties at a slightly lower price.

When was the last time you were home? Plasma tv prices have dropped in the last year. I was just back in the states 2 weeks ago and couldn't believe the prices now.

Nope. I don't have a company. I'm here on an exchange program with my university. I will have to pay all of the costs to have everything shipped.

The price difference is about 1400/piece on the 42" and about 300/piece on hte lcd tv/monitors I'm looking at. I was thinking that shipping would kill any savings, but I wasn't sure.
