Red face Where is better to live?

I just arrived in HK last night, and will go to to rent an apartment. I work in Stanley, and would like to find a place within 30 mins by bus to go to there. It's better to have a park and swimming pool. Do you have any suggestions? Many thanks!

Hello

As others say main thing is budget. Stanley itself is a well sought after place to live - short commute! but it could be a bit much living and working there and rents arent cheap.
I would suggest living somewhere between Stanley and Central - so you can go either way -either to work or to the busier districts for socialising/shopping etc and neither way is too far.
If you post your budget I'm sure you'll get a number of useful tips.

I have been living in midlevels for the past few months and catch a cab to work at IFC everyday. I have just heard that there is some sort of escalator that goes up and down from midlevels. Has anyone used this or know if this thing exists. I know cabs are cheap... but if this giant escalator exists.. I would like to give it a go.

Also, does anyone know if you need a visa to got to Kowloon? I have been wanting to go, but dont want the hassle of getting a visa!

Rock on.

A visa to goto Kowloon....r u joking or really a newbie in town? I bet you aint even been on the MTR right?

HK Island, Kowloon and the New Territories are all part of Hong Kong. Even though NT is part of the motherland its still Hong Kong. You only need a visa if u wish to cross into China which I think you should see if time allows as its very interesting up there.

The escalators is there like the giant Budda on lantau island. hehe
