Wordworking supplies

Please help. Has anyone seen a harware store that looks like it might sell a variety of varnishes and glues for timber? In particular I am looking for Titebond (or similiar aliphatic resin) and shellac flakes. I need to repair one of my guitars. The soundboard has lifted, and it makes me sad to look at it and playing it is misery.

Alternatively, has anyone spotted a guitar luthier anywhere in HK? Any leads are appreciated as no one seems to know what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance (as they say).

Never used the resin you are talking about, but I have definintely seen alot of shellac flakes, at the small local hardware stores clustered around wood areas. Have seen bags of them quite often (buy by weight) so its fairly common I believe. G.luck

Thanks. I had only checked a few small places around where I live and was starting to worry.

Hi there
For the varnishes you can try ICI Dulux shops in HK. To find out click on: http://www.ici.com.hk/HKDLX/index.jsp
They have good products rather than paints. Fixing the guitar wouldn't be a problem if you have good hands.

I also want to find CUPRINOL products (to preserve and treat wood)which is a brand from ICI. I am hoping to find them in ICI Dulux shops. ANYONE CAN HELP, BTW?

Glues for timber are easy to find. I know a good American brand for wood fillers, glues, etc. I use to buy them in Macao, but hell I can't remember the name now. I will try to get the name later. I used a kind of glue that will never crack and allows wood to expand (you know HK climate, dry in winter, moisty in spring and summer). It takes a few days to dry completly but it's very professional.
Regards
