Oh I was reading the earlier post from this thread, and I just had to comment on this: the LKF geoexpat drinking sessions are all for older people. I went to one last summer and everyone was so old. I found one person who was my age (18) to talk to and the rest...old enough to be my parents! (okay maybe exaggerating a little bit but you know what I mean.) I only had to say that because our original poster def wouldn't like those drinking sessions.

Yea being from LA, I can't really stand clubs in HK...full of posers. (I specifically mean the hip hop clubs.) But LKF is still a whole lot better than Wanchai. I can't stand the amount of prostitutes there. Ha this post is really negative but the clubbing scene in HK just simply sucks dick.

Guys, I love deep house, soulful house, chill out and nu jazz. I also don't mind a bit of jacking US house and the smoother variations of drum and bass. If a good band is on, I'm there will bells on.

Any directions to suitable clubs/venues?

I am planning to visit Hong Kong March 4 to 11 March and would like to check out the night dancing place but will be alone..

are there anyone who likes to organise something and so I don't have to go solo and can boogie with a group of friends instead?

You're from LA? Then you should know all about posers.

But I know what you mean, the "hip-hop" kids here are virtually all posers. But what do you expect? All they know about hip-hop is what they see on MTV or in movies.

So yeah, the club scene here is pretty craptecular. There's some decent breakbeat and drum & bass but good house music and underground hip-hop is really hard to find.

anyway i used to go clubbing solo a fair amount and never had a problem with it... i always found a way of meeting some pretty cool people and having a great time.

these days i normaly have atleast one or two friends floating around but i do occassionaly go alone just for the heck of it...

anyway my main theory is nobody really cares if your a loner and infact its easier to meet people as you dont have any group fears

Looks like I am in the same boat. Been relocated here and sinking into the living and working here life. Been going around and doing the tourist stuff but getting bored already after 2 month, so now looking at opportunity to find new new things to do and new friends...so looks like me going solo this weekend as well.....
