If you marry her.. you can work in virtually any industry. Soccer coach, fitness trainer would be obvious job choices -- if an employer does not have to sponsor you.

It is easier for you to move to macao cos as a former portuguese colony, you do not need a sponsor to get a visa if I am not mistaken. It is also easier cos there are still a lot (even though far less now than before 99) of portuguese ppl and you might get in touch easily with your fellow countrymen. But it does not mean you cant find in HK of course.

Yeah, Macau is a place i always wanted to visit, and if there is no other chance for me to be close to her, i guess Macau is a good choice, but Hk is still in my main target,

I am from France and lived in both cities. I spent a bit more than 2 years in Macao and I am currently living and working in HK. Both cities are very different (size, energy) and very similar (despite what most of the HK ppl think)....it is worth it to experience both!

I do not know for portuguese passport holder, you can check at your consulate/ambassy. French are allowed to stay 90 days, while british for example are able to stay 6 months. You need to chek the duration for portuguese ppl. I stayed over 2 years in Macao and I am currently in HK. As said earlier both cities are good to live in. Not really a comparison but here it is: Air Pollution: Bad in both cities. High density of population, traffic....similar problem I would say. Once you reach the "countryside" it is of course better. Activities: well here we go. most HK ppl will tell you: "what you lived in Macao for so long....waoooo so boring..there is nothing to do there"....but then when you really check I would say the difference isnt that big. Usually ppl work from 9 to let say 7 or 8 in Hk and then they go back home. Week end is spent having Yam Cha (traditional cantonese dim sum) and then watching TV, playing Majhong....well when you check in Macao, ppl are more or less doing the same.....so it always makes me smile... But to be honest the big difference is the CHOICE. in Macao your options will be restricted (terms of bars for example or even restaurants...impossible to find russian or spanish restaurant, of course plenty of portugeuse) while HK will offer you as many choices as you can imagine ! HK is also a great place if you like Hicking, while you wont be able to do so much in Macao. It terms of work it all depends of your field, but it is obvious that Hong Kong will offer much more choices and reward than Macao (except for the casino industry). As for government (immigration..) they are far more efficient here than in Macao..no comparison :-) Finally in terms of cost, there is a huge difference. in Macao single around 25 to 30 years old, you will live very well with 15.000 to 20.000 HKD a month, while you will find it hard in HK... One more thing, Macao kept much more of it's colonial past than HK in terms of architecture.

Yup, u are correct Mat, i checked it out, and i also have 90 days, which i think its not the appropriate extent of time, to look for jobs in Hk, is it?? Quest-ce que tu penses??? Cuz i heard that it wasn't easy to look out for jobs in HK!!!!!
