| Any of the mobile phone shops such as Smartone, Sunday, 3 etc You're looking at $100 hk and that will give you about $90 credit on the phone. If you're going to be making international calls on it then Smartone appears to be the cheapest. |

| Also, '3' offer two cards for the price of one - useful if you intend to have two numbers. |

If one is frenetic about saving money - then walk in Apliu Street Shamshuipo 'cos there it is possible to pick up "cheap" SIM cards.I've only bought "Orange / 3" cards there, and have often got them for little more than 50% of the face value. Recharge cards are less discounted, but it never bothered me about changing my phone number every 180 days. However, some time ago, in the SCMP it was announced that PCCW phone line subscribers could get FREE mobile phone calls with the Sunday $50/550 minute scheme solely 'cos one was a user of a PCCW phone line. It took a lot of searching to get to the correct division of PCCW to prod them to issue me with a letter authorizing Sunday/PCCW shops to set this up for me - but with two phone lines - I finally extracted two authorizations which will give me 18 months *free* for my mobiles - after which, I'll more than likely go back to pre-paid SIM cards since my mobile usage is minimal such that whenever it is close to expiry date, I have to "waste" the residual value [to stop Bloated Plutocrat Li Kah Shing gaining "Windfall Profits"] by making International calls till I reach a near zero balance. Want to try to get PCCW to cough up a free 18 month subscription? Call PCCW on 2888-1669 & ask for "Victor" - after 15:00 ! Do me a favor, only say that "someone" recommended you to call him - i.e. DON'T name **ME**. I want to "Stay out of the Loop". |
