job possibilities & work visas....

hi,
could possibly land a job flying for Cathay Pacific in the next few months, and I would like to bring my girlfriend (could be getting married soon) to Hong Kong. she definately wants to find work, but understand now that she would not be able to work on a dependants visa.
just wondering if anyone has any input / stories on what sort of positions would be possible for a 23 year old, beautiful canadian girl, with a degree in commerce, with 1 year working experience, currently working as assitant manager of a resort hotel. also, how hard would it be for her to obtain a work visa?
any insight would be much appriciated!

She could try working for one of the local hotels. They're always hiring and firing.

A word of caution though. I don't think Cathay wives / girlfriends are supposed to work.

With her limited work experience it is unlikely that she will get a work visa especially since the reason for not allowing dependents to work is to supposedly create more opportunities for locals.

If she had over 5 years of experience with her degree, she would have a chance albiet a slim one because of the large pool of local talent in the hospitality industry.

An idea might be to try Macau with the expansion of the number of casinos.

Good things about Macau;

* If your plane ever crash lands there, it's only an hour away from Hong Kong.

* You can leave.
