HeadHunters

Hey all, I'm a long time lurker , first time poster.

I'd like to utilize the services of a HeadHunter and wonder if anyone here has any suggestions on how to find a good company to assist on the job front. Has anyone had a good/bad experience?...do tell.

I'm an engineer from the US.

Thanks for your help.

Specifics

Electrical Engineering by trade, but I've been working the past five years with an electrical controls manufacturer as an electrical controls project engineer. I focus on software, such as ladder logic programming, HMI (Human Machine Interface), and Business system interface.

Generally, I'd like to find a HeadHunter that specializes in the automation or industrial fields, but I could also perform IT tasks.

Just a question, can you speak or write chinese.. as majority of engineering jobs requires you to do so.

Unfortunately, I am in the very beginning stages of learning to speak Mandarin. Most likely, I will never read/write the language

I do have the advantage though, of not requiring sponsorship, due to the fact that my wife is a HK Citizen.

I know that finding a good job with my skills and lack of Chinese language will be a significant task and for that reason I think a head hunting company will be my best course of action. The problem is choosing a good company that can help me out.

I am exactly the same case as you, to be honest, engineering does not pay well here and plus they can employ their own locals since they are willing to take lower pay, work hard, and can speak and write chinese. Hong Kong engineering markets tend to deal with China a lot, and the requirements to write in "Engineering" specs in chinese is pretty mandatory as the engineers cannot understand english. Even presentation has to be done in chinese too.

PM me if you need some advice.
