LOL

Let's hope she doesn't say no, then it won't be a problem.

Barry,
I'll plan for as much as I can afford, and than a little over. If I have anything to "bitch and whine" about, it's that I don't make enough money to give her the world on a plate. But, I'm working on it. Thanks for your keen insight.

mr c,
Helitour would be fantastic, and yes, has a much greater romance value than proposing in a restaurant. But... yeah. It comes down to what I can afford again.

I don't think it's all that romantic, but I know the food in Spring Moon in the Peninsula is good. I was thinking of taking her there on another night, just for a nice dinner.

Thanks.

Can't believe no one has suggested this (unless I missed it). Go to Lucy's - it is a gem, great food and an ambience that can be right or what you seek (ask for a corner table on the left as you go in). For the element of surprise, make it just a trip to Stanley..."happen upon" Lucy's somewhat hidden door and let it gradually unfold that you knew what you were doing all along as the evening progresses...and the waiter places a boxed ring between you when serving dessert.

Otherwise, M at the Fringe is a great choice. I also like Le Tire Bouchon on Graham Street..but pic your tables. Felix is overreated in my humble opinion, and the wait staff believe their own press and seem to think it is they, rather than the guests, who are special. Er...right.

Yeah, it would be a real nightmare to have to travel a bit to get to a really nice place to propose to your future wife. You should try the hallway in your block of flats- quiet, nearby and if you take 2 cups of coffee from your own kitchen- really cheap too.

JJ,
Thanks. I'll look around for some more info on Lucy's.

Lamma,
You must be bored. Why don't you help me out a bit and give me some pros and cons of having this special dinner out on Lamma? Recommend any good restaurants? Yeah, I know Lamma is famous for seafood. Any places have a nice, romantic atmosphere? Granted, I'm sure the views of the sea are spectacular, especially if we can catch the sunset. However, I really didn't want to propose while sitting at a picnic table under a blue tarp.

If you know of someplace good, I'd truly appreciate your suggestions. If not... well, I'm happy that you think you're funny.

I have eaten at Totts and the food is really good + good selection as well. Ask for a seat near the window and the views are superb.

Hi

Hope you found somewhere. I dont know many restaurants but I would suggest it depends what sort of person she is. Some people dont like 'romantic' settings (bit unnerving and contrived sometimes) and prefer more fun, interesting places with lots happening.
Of course, it shouldnt matter where you are, if she really loves you.
BUt for a nice night out...I would go with what sort of person she is... (party animal/quiet/grungy/smart/comfort-loving/adventurous) .....depends on your personality whether you like a place but hopefully you've suissed that out already!
Good luck,L

I wasnt that impressed with Aqua. Its a fusion of Japanese and Italian - something which I think doesnt actually mix that well : Octopus on Pizza - I think NOT!
But then I am slightly bias as I dont eat seafood/sushi. Food was ££££
