It's a road worthiness test. Doesn't cost much if your car is sound. First time is after 6 years then every year.

oh...bad news..
I was planning to import a NSX.. but just found out
you cannot register any car between 1985-1999 model year

today's law, HK only allows register classic cars (before 1985) or cars that are made from 2000 or later!!

Nice cars! Don't know if it's just me but they look a little overpriced.

Lower tax band for bringing your car back from abroad to HK is for the people who live in other countries and now moving to HK or returning to HK bringing their own belongings with them, just like if you import a box of new clothes which will need to be taxed on, but if you move to HK bring your own clothes which won't need to be taxed.

The idea of this is not for the people who live in HK all their life and wanting to import some fancy cars from abroad into HK.

If you ever lived abroad, you would probably have seen tons of people who do take their car back to HK when they move back, why? you tell me, why would they do that if you had to pay high tax on their car.

No argument here, I know there is a darn pollution problem, I can see it and SMELL it, amazing. Can't have every joe blow dick and harry brining cars, that's obvious.

All in all, I don't have a problem with the tax code here, it's fairly simple and straightforward, I just really really really miss my tuscan lol
