Visiting Shenzhen - urgent visa issue

Hi,
I have friends visiting from the US next week (so no time to get visa before they get to HK), and they hold US passports and want to visit Shenzhen. Unfortunately they are arriving on Saturday and only staying until Monday - any way they can get a one day/same day turn around on a visa to visit Shenzhen??
Thanks in advance for advice/suggestions.

Ask them to get their Visas in the US before they arrive.

You can come to Shenzhen, you can get a visa on the same day, normally they will issue you a 5 days visa which cost HK$150, just present your passport. There is Immigration Office just after you exit the border in Lowu . Please beware of those fixer.I have been to She zhen several times and I enjoyed shopping and dining there.Good luck.

A friend of mine has her parents from the U.S. here visiting. Last week they thought they would go to Shenzhen and get the visa at the border. Were they in for a shock. HK Immigration will no longer issue visas for U.S. nationals at the border. I don't know whether they will issue visas for U.S. nationals period. You need to check with the U.S. Consulate/HK Immigration to be sure.

DB, you are right, was in Shenzen last week, there's a sign at the place where you can get the same day visa that says US passport holders cannot be given "instant" visas. Dunno why...

Unfortunately they will not have time to get the visa in the US. So US nationals cannot get a visa to Shenzhen at this point? No same day turnarounds anywhere?

no visas for Americans at the Shenzen border.

Rumor has it that it was in retaliation from the PRC. Someone didn't want to be fingerprinted when they went to the US (post 9/11) and a formal request was made by the government to have the policy reviewed. USA said no, PRC raised visa costs for Americans, closed all on-arrival visas for Americans

Well, Chinese has to pay US$100 for visas which have to be applied at the US consulates here first before their departure, so that's a fair game.

Any ideas what the fastest turnaround on visas for US passports is at this point? And how much would it cost?
Thanks.

As far as I know, same day turnround at the places in town (e.g. China Travel Service) is just as possible for US passport holders as it ever was (but still rather expensive).

Details of CTS and contact phone numbers here: http://www.chinatravel1.com/english/...hinesevisa.htm
