Question Service apartments and life after that

Hi all,

I am moving to HK in 4-5 weeks and will be working in Central. This is my first post on this forum after spending some time as a non-member!

My employer has given me choice of 1-bedroom service apartments at Manhattan Heights (Kennedy Town), Bauhinia (Sheung Wan), 2Macdonnell Road (Mid-levels) and Daisy Court (Hanlun Habitats, Mid-levels). Since I will stay at the serviced apartment for a month and look for a place to move into, any feedback on the above places would be very helpful. 2MR is the closest to my office.

I will also look for a 1-bedroom (prefer a roomier 1-bedroom apt to a cramped 2-bedroom one) fully furnished (but not serviced) apartment for around HK$15-20,000 per month. Considerations include not more than 20 min of door-to-door travel at around 8 in the morning and very late in the evenings, proximity to essential services and (relatively) peaceful surroundings (I am 30-ish, single, male). Currently considering Mid-levels, Happy Valley, Kennedy Town, Pokfulam. Is this realistic or are there factors I am missing?

It would be great to hear from you all.

Cheers

Ive heard a couple of bad stories about Bauhinia - its very central but right next to a busy busy main road. Manhattan Heights is fine with great amentities such as pool, gym, tv room to watch the grand prix but it is abit out of the way. The tram doesnt run that far and neither does the MTR. But they do have their own shuttle bus to Central so that might be ok.
Dont know about the other two but mid-levels is fine - near pubs, restaurants, Central.
At the end of the day, its only for a month and time will fly by.

I would go with Hanlun habitats - I stayed in one of their other buildings - it was new, clean, perfect location. All their places are very close together. This one I think is right on the escalator and close to a supermarket but far enough up for it not to be too noisy. We were a couple in a studio and it was fine but would have prefered a one bedroom. The design of the apartment was far more clever than regular HK apartments and as a result was quite spacious.

hihi

did you stay in Lily Court 28 Robinson? I am given a choice between Lily Court Tower 1 but it is on a 4th floor and I am concerned about the noise. Else other choices are Shama at Hospital Rd or Staunton Street. Is hospital road very far from the escalator? Shaunton Street could be noisy as well as it is smack in the heart of Soho.

Many Thanks

I stayed in Daisy Court for a month - moved out yesterday. Apartments are fine - fully equipped and the staff is very good. Location is right next to the elevator, so very convenient. But expect the rooms to be small, much smaller than even London and NY anyway.

I was in Lily Court 2 on the 25th floor - it was really hot so we didn't open the windows - just kept the aircon on and there were no problems with noise. Lily Court isn't really on Robinson Road its just around the corner so traffic isnt a real issue. The Hospital Road one is about 5-10 mins walk from the escalator along Caine Road, depending on how many slow people you have to walk behind but I would pick any of the Hanlun locations over that one and Staunton whilst convenient could be a bit noisy.
