Does anyone have the number for calling a red taxi to pick you up?

I generally find that in most places, sticking my arm out gets me 2 or 3 cabs stopping within minutes :-)

Had to call one at the weekend, but we were well out of red cab range...

I want to book one to pick me up at the door of my apartment, we are a few minutes walk from a main road and I need to go to the airport with a pile of luggage so would rather book one and waste time trying to hail one at the crack of dawn.

Also ask the doorman/management of your apartment (if any). They know taxi numbers.

if u're looking for more than a short hop to the supermarket, there are many taxi "cartels" out there that you can call. most offer 20% off the meter fare (some 30%), and do not charge return tunnel tolls.

they also offer deeper discounts / fixed-price services to HKG, or disneyland, etc.

they operate a pool of taxis, and depending on where u live, a free one could probably reach ur place within 10 mins or so.

i've often used 6533 2008 for longer trips (> $100). there are several others.
