Good domestic helper

Been using a maid agency since moving to HK 4 months back and it has been rather frustrating. They either slack after a few sessions or find ways and means and reasons not to do the relatively more difficult tasks, or take advantage of the situation.

We've been spending quite a lot of time reminding them of what we need done, how to do them or needing to check on them on simple task etc etc.

I do not at all think we are demanding or unreasonable, in fact I noticed that most of them begin to slack and take advantage when we begin to be nice to them. Is it too much to have them mop the floor with a cloth instead a mob as I find mob to be too wet and it does not pick up dust and dirt as well when one uses cloth?

Would very much appreciate if any one would recommend someone ( preferbly some one ) or some agency that they have got good experiance with.

Many thanks...

Definitely not too much to ask. However, perhaps if they want to use mop, they should sweep the floor with a broom first?

I can recommend an agency specialising in providing Indonesian domestic helpers. Pm me if you're interested.

thanks for giving me an opinion ... !! a few of them seemed so reluctant to do so, giving all sorts of excuses etc etc. I know it is more difficult but it is a job right and whose job is easy anyway ???

Hi Anne, are you legally able to work as a domestic helper ? I need someone to come in maybe 4-5 hours for about 4 to 5 times a week. I'm at Cyberport, whereabout are you ?

Do you mean you are looking for a local as in a Chinese national who speaks Cantonese?

It can be frustrating. They prefer the easy tasks like dishwashing and mopping the floor. Ask them to scrub the floor or scrub the shower tiles and they won't do it (or put no effort). I hear that Indonesians are better workers because they relatively new to the scene, whereas the filipinos know all the tricks to slack off.

Tell me about it, frustrating is the word ! one was so bad, she can be staring at the stains and tell me that she's just clean it. I have to show her the dust for her to admit that she " might have forgotten about it " I told the agency that I am spending time and money to give myself more trouble. Thanks for the tip.
