We are in Hk next week looking at schools, properties etc in readiness for our relocation after christmas (my job starts 1st Jan in Hk). It is proving to be a bit of a logistical nightmare so some previous experiences from you would be appreciated.

The main issue seems to be that if we find a property now and take it from just after christmas (in order to get kids into a school on a catchment area basis) then we'd have to send our UK furniture in a few weeks time for it to get there early in the new year and be stuck in serviced place in the uk. alternatively packing everything up after xmas means we wont see anything until end of Feb and it messes up the schooling application as we wont have an address in hk. anybody with similar experience and advice of best way around things?

The bank accepted our serviced apartment address when we first arrived even though it wasn't permanent. Do you think you will live near your work maybe you could use that address or just find a school you like and talk to them about your predicament. Serviced apartments here are very good, there are lots of threads in this forum about them.
