I don't know if the Itunes music store is accessible in Hong Kong, let alone China, and that is because of Apple, not the communists.

Has it opened in HK yet?

All blog sites are blocked in China. Also Geocities is blocked. Even some proxy sites. But they can't or will not touch HK for the first 50 years of rule. So, if the first year is 1997... then that would be 2047... I'd be 67 by then... wonder if I'd still be in HK.

Imagine the outcry if they tried to censor the internet in HK. Wonder what would become of poor Hemlock...

Penguinsix - iTunes is not here in HK or China yet. If you have a credit card registered in another country(e.g. UK, US) then you can use that to purchase tunes online from that country's catalogue. No idea if the itunes store is blocked in China tho.

cerberus is an unknown quantity at this point.
the authorities in mainland China never cared about piracy, far as they're concerned the only major victims of IPR violations are westerners and other barbarian laowai/yangguizi/guizi/gweilo, so who gives a flying * * * *, right? they may even think they're using it as leverage against the waiguoren hordes.

on a more positive note, HK's good for access, haven't encountered any major problems yet. it doesn't mean you're not being watched tho. au contraire, mon amis, au contraire!

I doubt anything will change after 2047. Supposedly Hong Kong will be fully democratic near that time.

I suspect the economic system will remain the same after 2047 and Internet access will continue to be ufiltered.

Who knows what China will be like then too.

I have a feeling the 50 year agreement will be extended another 50 years after 2047.
