| I'm not very keen on organized tours. I did one, however, to Thailand, and one to Hainan.
Both were mostly riding in a bus all day from shop to shop and staying in a different hotel every evening, The hotels always in the middle of nowhere where they can't get any business from anyone else than organized tour groups.
Worst of all - in Thailand all the food we got was Chinese.
Better:
Go alone or with friends.
For China: contact your consulate there or your chamber of commerce, they know all the expats there and they in turn know the country and are happy to meet new faces.
The expat community in China is much closer knit than in Hong Kong. |
