Sending gifts to US....

I have been trying to send a gift to my mother-in-law in the US. Found a beautiful crystal serving bowl set. But the site won't except out-of-US billing addresses. In fact, that goes for almost all of the websites I visited. I do not want to place an order over phone (if that is even possible, with my shipping address for US and billing address for HK). Can someone give me a tip or a website's address from where I can send crystal gifts to US? I would really appreciate your help on this one!

Yes, I ended up using Amazon.com. But I had to pick something else and I feel it was not as elegant as the one I saw on this other site. Is Amazon.com the only site for such a transaction? I thought Yahoo.com would also allow such purchases, but was amazed to know that it does not.

Yahoo allows individuals to setup stores. The policies of the stories vary.

Actually when I tried to use Yahoo, I had the same problem with most merchants. It looks like when you checkout from a merchant on yahoo, the process is through yahoo (or atleast same foe all). All the checkout pages were same and did not accept a different billing address (country). I could be wrong here. Just viocing my opinion.....

But my question is still the same........are there not any other sites that can perform such transactions? Is Amazon.com is the only truely international website?

Amazon is it!

As far as I know, Amazon is the answer to all gift giving from overseas. When I lived in Europe I used Amazon, as it was the one stop for me to send gifts. It appears to be the same in Hong Kong unless someone wants to enlighten me.

That is really very sad! I thought it would be easier to send gifts to the US. Well amazon.com is also is pretty good choice!

Shipping addresses that differ from billing address are considered suspect fraud in many countries. You can find a few merchants that will ship to a different address, but it's really a rarity.

Some credit cards allow 2 addresses for this sort of thing.
