this prob wont sound helpful but its the only way that really works. Just dont smoke! Seriously, it doesnt matter how long youve been smoking you just have to decide that you arent going to anymore and everytime you go to have a cigerette just ask yourself, 'whats the point'. If it helps, have a coffee or stick a lollypop in your mouth (sounds silly but stops you sticking a fag in there for a half hour or so)

When u thk about it, its just going to reduce your concentration, speed up your heart rate making you more agitated, fill your lungs with kak and increase your chances of getting cancer or firing blanks.

I found taking a close look at the filter after a smoke was an incentive not to have another one!

But seriously, all these 'methods' such as nicerette patches and hypnotheropy etc are just ways to help you accept a big change in your life - its all in the mind. Incidently im not saying just stop smoking, it helps to downsize your smoking habit, smoke lights or something, reduce the amount of nicotine in your bloodsteam so its not such a shock to the system.

Good luck

nearly forgot - a lot of people say its easier to quit if you switch to rollies (tobacco and papers) because you tend to smoke less of them - requires more of a conscious effort and passes more time (if your waiting for a bus etc) - and hence reduce your dependancy and the amount of nicotine in your bloodstream. Another good trick is look up the effects of smoking online - the foul pictures burn themselves in your mind and act as a real deterrent!
What doesnt help is the feeling like kak for a few weeks after you stop as all the crap starts to come out of your system...

I actually find that living in HK now, I dont smoke as much. Must be the murky air!
I totally agree with the rollies thing off Laughing_Monkey. I went through a period of rollies, ..and just couldnt be arsed most of the times.

Thanks Laughing Monkey. I decided that tommorrow will be the day. Gonna buy a lot of mint and gum, and tough it out. It is going to hurt tommorow.

in blighty theres a pack of smokes called 'Death' - a black packet with a skull and crossbones on the front. Great idea, only problem is the pack looks cool! (enough for school)

Did all the above [except Kent Ones] but nothing helped, till about 4 years ago.

Then an hour with a hypnotist and $1,200 later I was smoke free and have been since. There were a few days of discomfort, and that was it .

Try it -You'll like it.

there are quite a few advertising in HK Mag among others - I can pm you my dr's contact if you like
