In the early days of cold turkey I would try and stay away from the smokier pubs.

Cold Turkey, and second the notion on staying away from smoke and pubs. Every other substitute is just placing you a step closer to returning to smoking.

Cold turkey, and if you go insane suck down some gum. Better than sucking gum and going insane and lighting up.

And think of all those nubile girls who will allow you to get up close now that your clothes don't stink.

I smoked for ten years and I tryed all the cigarrets available to stop smoking, from black tobacco, to blond, the death one's also, and rolling them aswell. Nothing worked, sooner or later one gets used to the new brand and one is as addicted as before. For me the only thing that worked was valerian pills for the first week and determination for the rest. But I still have some days when I would like to have a smoke. A quite 11 years ago.

maddogmerrick can only hope to improve
Go and buy Nicorette chewing gum at Watsons (chemists). Cost around HK$300 for 105 pieces (2mg). The gum tastes terrible to start with but tastes really good after a while.
