Can someone help with an example of tax calculation of similar salary in HK and SIN.

Case 1: Salary HKD 1 mil or equivalently 200K SGD
Family of 4. Deductions for spouse and 2 kids. Housing allowance provided in HKG. No housing allowance in SIN but max CPF.

Case 2:Salary HKD 500K or equivalently 100K SGD
Family of 4. Deductions for spouse and 2 kids. Hosuing allowance provided in HKG. No housing allowance in SIN but max CPF.

Based on the discussions so far Case 1 should be paying less tax in HKG and Case 2 should be paying less tax in SIN. Is that true? How do the numbers work out in both cases? How much is the difference between two places for the two cases?

suspect, case 1 is still quite even. maybe hk slightly less tax.

case 2 is quite likely sg will have less tax.

If your contract is in Singapore (and preferably if your boss is) and you have a regional job which requires you to be out of HK on business for a substantial number of days each tax year then you should be able to get taxed on a pro-rata basis excluding the days you are out of HK on business. If you spend more than 60 days in some other country then you would need to check whether that makes you liable for tax there.

http://www.ird.gov.hk/eng/pdf/pam42e.pdf has some more details.
