Baron is an unknown quantity at this point.
Both good areas, but for me the Golden arcade computer centre in Sham Shui Po is best. Downstairs for most PC stuff.

second that....

however, Wanchai would have more stores with salespersons who are able to speak in English as they tend to deal with expats more frequently.....

(or at least that's what i've been told....)

Nothing is inherently "better" than the other, L_M. Each place has its own conveniences, its own pros and cons. That said..Sham Shui Po is probably the best place for someone extremely tech-oriented. If you don't limit yourself to the Golden Computer Centre and venture out into other areas nearby, you'll find a HUGE selection of stores and products with very, very competitive (dare i say, cut-throat) pricing. On that front, Wanchai and Mong Kok don't even come close. They do score, however, on accessibility/proximity to most customers.

For choice and price I would go to Golden Shopping Arcade. In reality I end up going to the Wanchai Computer Centre because I work just 10 minutes walk away.
It's all down to convenience.

Just been down to Wanchai Comp centre, and was a little disappointed. I think if you know exactly what u want then you can prob find a good deal - but you'd prob have to haggle a bit...

actually the price difference between KL and HKI for computer parts isn't that great, maybe 10%. depending on what you buy and how far you need to travel, transportation alone may account for any savings.
it's true SSP has more selection, but i also find it more disorienting and labyrinthine, so sticking with Wan Chai's not such a bad choice. look for 298 hennessy, lots of people forget about that one, it's slightly more proletarian than the mainstream WC computer center.
