I would wait till you get a job before committing to an apartment because it is likely to affect your decision on exactly where you want to live and how much you want to spend. In saying that though Central and Sheung Wan are great choices in my opinion. Walk along Caine Road or Queens Road West for lots of Real Estate Agents or check out the Black & White section of the free HK Magazine. Most rental agreements commit you for 14months, 12 months + 2 months notice. An agent will cost half a months rent plus you have to pay 2 months bond and a month in advance so its a big initial commitment. A serviced apartment is a good interim solution becasue your costs are all inclusive and fixed.

agree with larac - you dont want to travel for hours to work, and you dont want to limit your choice because of the location.

you can also search online for direct adverts from owners, or in realestate sites to get an idea on the rate. will you consider share flats?

ps: it's not too crazy as i did that in your country too

flat needed, quite urgent

hi
I'm a French male and also looking for a flat/roommates.
I'll arrive in HK on the 17th of july for about a month and a half.

I gonna work in Central, but any location should be fine if it's not to far from the subway... (willing to pay around HKD 3000-4000 but can be discussed as i'm not fully aware of the prices in that town)

thanks

Barth

room in HK over summer

it's very difficult to find flatmate in HK, especially short term contracts. If you wanna stay for only a month, i suggest you to try the university student hall while the students are on vocation.....
