| Hello members, I am so glad i found this site. I really like to voice my worries and fustrations. And i don't know where to start! I will be moving to HK end of next month. I gonna get married to my british partner who currently working in HK. Like in London, I have to start a new chapter of life abroad again. I am worried about not being excepted by the locals because i can't read chinese. I have a degree in Business and IT rusty in the closet. While i am just a fashion retail supervisor. I heard the retail industry hours are crap in HK. I already decided to leave my retail life behind and start with office base jobs. Unfortunately, I am not confident enough about my capability. My ideal job is to work for banks or English company which required not much of Chinese reading and more interactive with overseas clients. As i feel i am very confident in that sort of areas Last edited by amygal; 09-10-2005 at 02:25 AM. |

| Hi amygal, just found your note Hello Amygal, just saw your note. Well, you have in me a friend. I come from South America. Looking for something similar as you, banking and/or financial work. By the way did you learned to speak cantonese in UK? Here in SouthAm its a whole bunch of "chinese" and barely you find a little Mandarin being taught. Next week Im beginning classes on what ever this language they may teach here...I´ll see what will I learn. Do you know...are these two similar languages? Are people in HK used to hear Mandarin or do they just hear and speak Cantonese? Do you write some Cantonese ? Do you know where in the internet I might learn some? Thanks. Archangel Quote:
