| It depends on when you got your dependent visa. I think you can work if your DV was given on/before 2003, cos that would have given you the right to work in HK. Otherwise, a freelance job would still mean that you are 'employed', so you'd need to have a work visa for that. I heard that even volunteering without the right visa is illegal. |

| if you are 1)dependent on a working visa holder before july1, 2003, you CAN WORK 2)dependent on a permanent resident, you CAN WORK 3)dependent on a working visa holder AFTER JULY 1, 2003, you CANNOT WORK!!!(not even as a volunteer!) |
