Cheapest broadband plus fixed line service

I know of the deal from i-cable: sign a 15 month contract for $99 HKD per month. Any others available for less?

Also, how is the quality of i-cable broadband service?

Well, you ONLY get a phone number **IF** it is within their operational area for TELEPHONE service.

Contrary to expectations - although I have two i-cable installations in my flat - I can't get an additional phone number out of them !!

Crazy?

YES - I thought that the VoIP phone "service" that they were offering was sent back via their TV system & immerged into the local system back at their HQ.

Nota Bene : There have been NUMEROUS complaints about this "phone" service - every one of the complaints said that they couldn't get to i-Cable to complain about their service.

Likewise, don't hold up too much expectation for Internet either.

Unlike ADSL and one subscriber using one line to its fullest capabilities - Cable connections are **SHARED** - so that if many people are downloading stuff at the same time on your local access point - then YOUR own speeds will be much less than the 1.5Mbps "promised" you.

Caveat Emptor !

Exactly.. If your neighbors are download junkies whose ultimate goal is to download the whole internet into their PC then you are into trouble.

So I suggest you to pay something extra and get a decent (and faster) DSL connection.
