I'm a bit pissed off as I dont believe new world mobility sales people told me. I went in today to ask if they could change the text messages they send me, ie. bill reminders, from chinese to english. My phone is the one I brought over from UK, and so, the chinese characters dont show up, all i see are .... $xx, .. i have no idea what it says, I just guess that it is a bill reminder.

The guy was pretty rude to me and said it cant be done.. so I asked them what about for western customers, what do you do for them? He was adamant they cant send the text in English language.

So, do you get mobile texts reminders in English or Chinese? I have a phone number to call to complain, if I find out that it is possible.

Other networks can do it, And why oh why did you choose nwm in the first place?

No reason at all why they can't do it, It should be under the options when you phone the customer services number.

Or failing that, change network provider.

the deals change all the time, so check thru this thread, get the web links to each service provider from the thread, and do some homework

one thing to note is that you will have problems sending SMS to overseas mobiles unless both carriers have a recipricol agreement. once the SMS leaves your carrier, they no longer take responsibility for it. Best to stick to the big guns, if ure concerend re international reliability, eg SmarTone, CSL. The 3G networks don't always agree with international 2-2.5G networks either, so i'd recommend, at this present date, stick to 2.5G.

but do read the thread to get the weblinks

i am with sunday.. pay $88 a month for 800 mins +200 texts to any network. I very very rarely find myself in the position where i dont have network and people im with do.. i do strongly recommend them! plus they carry the minutes forward to the next month if you dont use them. i was out of the country for 3 months a while back and when i returned i had like 2500 mins saved up.. so unless i make international calls my bills never EVER exceed $88 a month! gotta love it!

i use peoples for international sms to australia $1.50 each. other countries vary $0.90 to $1.50
however reception and call quality locally with peoples is not that good. other networks charge $2 to $3 for international sms.

Actually, One2Free have an SMS package that costs HKD19.00 for either 20 international SMS texts or 60 local.
