Apple Nano

What's up with the new Apple MP3 player - Nano. So, so, much $@# on the web about scratches and cracked screens...Anyone have one? Anything comprabale (4gb flash mp3...$1900) from rival brands?

It seems very weak to have something scratch up very quickly. Do the old Ipods do this as well?

Is this so that apple can make more money selling cases for poorly constructed materials with batteries that die off quickly. I'm a bit puzzled, I thought Microsoft was the bad apple, but maybe apple wants a run for the money at being the bad boy in town.

What it be? thoughts...

The Nano is a brilliant piece of equipment - so memory for something so small. Apple have admitted to the problem with the scratched screens and are now replacing some of the damaged ones. Dunno if they're still selling with the same problem though, you'd wanna check it out before picking one up coz it'd be a lot of trouble to put all your music on it then have to hand it back.

read on the web about this dude in the US who set up a web site to complain about the nano scaratches and screen breaking but Apple refusing to replace under warranty.

The web was a big hit and Apple shares dropped 4%.

Can't find the link but it was off CNN !

SMH had one here last week as well (sorry, you'll need a subscription).

"Trouble with screens cracking or easily scratching has affected less than a tenth of a percent of the iPod nanos the company has shipped, Tom Neumayr of Apple said.

"This is a real but minor issue involving a vendor quality problem in a small number of units," Neumayr said. "It is not a design issue."

Anyone with a nano with a defective screen should contact "Apple Care" and "we will replace it," Neumayr said.

Can't be that bad, and besides , they're so small!

Come on folks, that news is so yesterday. The guy was rightfully or not, upset, and Apple 'fessed up to replace those that cracked.

The real question is what will news Apple will announce next week hot on the heels of the nano...

The first company that comes up with a 2gb mp3 player with a 4megapixel camera in a phone the size of the nano is gonna be soooooooooo rich. The only question is...

Can it be done?
Has it already been done?
Will it ever be done?

You have to admit, if people only had to buy one toy to act as a phone, mp3, camera etc the Fortress stores would take a pretty big hit...
