Lightbulb Electrical engineer looking for work...

My wife and I relocated here from Houston with her employer. Unfortunately my previous employer does not have any operations in the neighboorhood.

I'm a EE.. have four years experience in oil and gas business with power distribution and control systems. Ideally I'd like to join a major energy firm or E&C. If I don't find anything in that area within a few months I will consider alternative opportunities. Fortunately it is not critical that I find something soon - I can afford to wait for the right opportunity.

I've been scouring the usual online job spots.. just wanted to see if anyone here might be looking for someone with my experience.

Thanks for any constructive tips, leads or job offers

Try Waste Management/ Enviropace. Look for a fellow Texan called John McJohnston. Hopefully he is still there and might be able to help.

Good Luck!

After taking the holidays off, I'm back on the job search. Last year I did not try too hard - I sent out a few resumes on JobsDB but not much else. This year I'm planning on working with recruiter(s) and finding more opportunities to network.

Anyone need a good engineer?

Has anyone here worked with a recruiter who specializes in technical fields? The recruiter I'm working with does not seem to have much of a grasp of what an engineer does.

Again, thanks for any hints or job offers

hi,

There is little O&G work in available locally. And as you many know in a small town most engineering positions are typically filled through contacts, headhunters/recruiters would be suitable for director/CE position, pretty useless for EE position in my view.

Also for EE design work /MV/HV would need to be Registered electrical worker (visit http://www.emsd.gov.hk) also you could try Hongkong electric or CLP

good luck

Hi,

I'm a fellow EE but in the electronics field. Didn't have much luck in getting a job in HK though... Oops out of topic.

Anyway, saw this recruiter during one of my scourings that you might be interested in.

Best of luck...
