Ive looked at MAC;s and they are way expensive!

Macs are more expensive. And in my opinion, the PC can do whatever the Mac can. Some say, it's just the user's preference or even the 'hype' that mac users are a select few and are cool. And since you're a 'designer', you must also have a 'designer' tool--- such as a mac. But that's just my opinion.

If your budget is 7k HKD... then, goodbye dual-cores... goodbye GeForce 6800ultra (or above).

I use an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe. It still hasn't failed me... 5 months now. Asus is the way to go... quite reliable. Probably the best MB maker out there.

Im really struggling to decide on the mobo and graphics card. Ive been looking at the ASUSTek range as they seem to be the best value for money, but there doesnt appear to be any quick way to evaluate the boards and tracking down reviews and benchmarks for each takes forever!

The same applies for graphics cards really, there is no easy way to evaluate them, esp. when your looking at the mid range and the hk$4-5000 boards are so clearly awesome....
