Frustrations on not able to read Chinese

Do you guys get frustrated when a number of things like company documents and presentations are done in chinese and not able to read a bit of it? How do you guys overcome that?

Yeah a bit, we're working on something at the moment for a client in China and a lot of the docs that come through are in Chinese. Its frustrating to be sure, but just something we have to deal with.

Having said that, watching ATV or Pearl with the Chinese subtitles, its interesting to watch and learn a few Chinese characters here and there through the process of elimination. I did Japanese for a few years at school and am pretty happy that I recognise a few more Chinese characters thanks to that.

There are some interesting books around about the Chinese characters and what they mean, and the legend behind them. When you know the story behind, for example, the one for gold, its easy to know silver, bronze etc etc too.

Even though it is personally frustrating it shouldn't get in the way of your work. Get a lacky to translate it and after time someone will have to put out an English version.

Ummm, the terms "trade-in" or "upgrade" come to mind, probably not the best choice of words, though :-/
