What time do people here finish work?

I've noticed the forums go dead at about 5.30 every day, but our office is still going strong. Makes me wonder, what time do people here finish?

Official working hours where I am are 9-6 but the 'unwritten' rule is to stay back til 7. If its busy we can easily stay back til 10, and occasionally as late as 3 or 4am. Am I really unlucky to be doing these hours, or do people here have it even tougher than me?

Our team is terrible starting at 9 and finishing any time between 7 and 1am. Things are being done though to try and change it to 8pm is not the norm so fingers crossed it will get better.

Officially 9 to 5:30. In practice most people drift in around 9:15 to 9:30, but there are always a couple towards 9:45.

No-one ever leaves before 6, and most leave between 6:45 and 7:15 most days. There will normally be someone around until about 8, but only rarely after that, although people do sometimes come back in around 10pm for audiocons with headquarters in New York.

Most people take 45-75 mins for lunch though.

I get in at 6.45am, always have a lunch at my desk (2-3 times a week I don't even manage that) and try and leave the office by 8.00pm.

2-3 days a week I get home at 7.00ish but have conference calls going on till 10.00pm.

Most people in my office come in between 8-9 and leave at about 6.30-7.00 but take longish lunches.

How do you break the long lunch culture here ?

Speaking of lunches, when I used to report to our HK office in Sydney, it was always really cool when it would be so quiet between 2-4pm Sydney time, while all the folks here were at lunch.

There's a myth going around in Australia that HK people have two hour lunches every day... but I'm yet to experience it. Its normally stop working - head out to buy something - back to office - eat at desk - keep working for me.

Mind you, there are some that enjoy the best of both worlds. We have people that are out the door at 12, back in at 2, then sit down and start eating their lunch at their desk! What have they just been doing for two hours then???

Where I work the rule is start at 0845 knock off at 1715. In practice they start at 0900. Lunch is 1.5 hours.
