Hours are from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, but there's been cases where I gotta be there at 9 am, but i always get out at 7:30. Then there are the late shifts from 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm... sometimes as late as 1 am on the weekends. those are the times when i yearn for some laid-back french work week...

That's because most of them started to get things done for the day during this "last hour" in the office.

Sounds like I am one of the very few lucky ones here(including Sazzy!!) Working hours from 9:30am to 5:30pm... very rarely will I walk into the office before 9:20am. What time do I leave? It depends on what functions I have in the evening! If I have to make a dinner at home, I will leave before 6pm; if I have an outing (drinks/dinner) I will work until the time to meet friends; once or twice (or trice) a month, I will work till 10pm in order to clear all the pending work. For me, working 7 hours, (I mean FULL 7 hours with focused mind is indeed ENOUGH - my mind (in dealing with work)cannot function well after 8 hours but only function well in socialising!! So in my case, no point to drag along in the office and be "inefficient"

It seems that working long hour is a very HK thing (some of my friends told me that they have to stay until their boss leave, even if they have nothing to do, because leaving before the boss means you have nothing to do and that the company can do with or without you! So, they will serve on the web, or typing emails to pretend they are still working!) I have never experienced such "working environment" myself but I believe it is true as I am told of many times!

hahaha.. I did NOT know that 2 hour lunch breaks were the norm here. I've been feeling guilty for the past month now.. but oh well!

Work hours 9-6 minus 2 hour lunch.. don't really start 'working' until about 9.45 and usually wind up work at about 5.45 being ready to leave at 6 on the dot.

I usually get to work by 8.50 though and get annoyed at myself for giving the office an extra 10 mins of my time!
