Question I have been working in HK with no HKID

now for 3 months but signed a contract for a position in Shenzhen. The European Company I work for promised to get me an HKID when they demanded I work here rather than PRC.

My contract period is up next week and I do not want to continue this way working illegally. (is my employer in more trouble than me?)

I would like someone to recommend a lawyer to me who might sue this company for breach of contract and split the settlement with me if there is a chance of winning.

Just wondering why an European company is making your life difficult. I thought usually those local HK companies are more sly - ie. not paying money, etc, etc..but an European company..too good to be true!

Dick_In_Peak is an unknown quantity at this point.
Saint7,

According to the Emploment ordinance Act 2005 of HOng Kong ,anyone who work without valid working visa and anyone who hire "em face serious legal actions .
By the HK employment law chapter 45 close 46 ,and chapter 39 close 44 and section III ,if you are convicted of working illegally in hk you must do 100 situps and 50 push ups in 30 minutes .
As for your for employer if he is convicted of employing you without working permit then he MUST attend 20 minutes Yoga session .

so do you think your employer is in more trouble than you ?

I believe there was a 2004 amendment to that law. In lieu of 20 minutes yoga session convictees may now opt for a 15 minute pilates session instead.
