Advice about employer?

I have recently started working here (less then a year) and I doubt that my company will be able to sustain my income throughout the rest of my contract. It is a small, privately owned company.

I do have a payout clause in my contract protecting me from an early break of contract on their behalf but what good is that if they couldn't afford to pay the basic salary.

Does anyone know what could happen if they say, filed for bankruptcy or something similar? Are there any laws protecting employees from situations like this or is there insurance that I can get?

Thanks
