Gold Coast / Tuen Mun

Hi guys!

I visited several flats yesterday and short listed 2: one located in Tuen Mun (South HillCrest) the other one near Gold Coast in Agean Coast.
Price is similar (6.300 HKD for the one in Tuen Mun, 6.800 in Gold Coast) but one is furnished (Tuen Mun) while the other one only has the electrical appliance.

Having no furniture, the Tuen Mun option sounds nice, but I was a bit disapppointed by the city (didn't really like it), while I really liked Gold Coast environment.

Any comments on GoldCoast and South HillCrest will be very much appreciated !

As I work in Central, in both cases it will take me around 40/45 minutes by bus...

Thanks for any suggestion/advice/comments

What are you looking for?

It really depends on what you are looking for. Tuen Mun does have a more local culture, but you can find everything here easily and its less expensive most often. Gold Coast is a great place to go for a more Western experience. Just remember, the travel time is quite a bit. Hope it helps a little.

If you don't intend on partying too many times a week then the Gold Coast or Tuen Mun should be fine. I have friends up that way and they love it but don't go out in LKF or anywhere down saarf!

How about Kingswood Villas in Tin Shui Wai? Price around $4500HKD, with club house service and near the Mai Po reserve area.

Hello Everyone,

My sincere apologies for starting my comment/question here but I am new to the site and will just have to learn.

Does anyone stay or have any experiences of staying at the Horizon Suite Hotel, Tolo Harbour (Ma on Shan) ? I am looking at coming out to work in HK with my wife early next year and this seems a very decently priced place ($6,800 pcm for a 2 bedroom flat). Nearest MTR is Diamond Hill

Many thanks

The hotel facing the Tolo harbour, has great sea view and shopping centers nearby. You'll have to take the bus in order to connect to Diamond Hill MTR station, or you can walk to the nearby KCR(MaOnShan route) station for train to Kowloon. It takes less than 1 hour to HK island or other Kowloon areas.

Thanks Lawrence 21.
Yes thats the Hotel all right, facing the harbour. You say shopping centres but any idea about restaurants etc ? The hotel alledgedly has a shuttle bus to MTR Diamond Hill so that OK then.

Thanks again

There are restarants: Chinese, Western, SE Asia, etc, fast foods and supermarkets in the shopping centre. The quality of food is around average, if you're looking for really delicious food, you may go beyond Ma On Shan area to Kowloon, HK island or even Macau.
