News Channel Advise - Sky or BBC ?

Finally sick and tired of Cable TV and CNN. My reception was crap coz there seem to be many people using illegal boxes in my apartment block and cable will not do anything about it.

Anyway I signed up with Now and have Fox, CNN Headline news which are great for US coverage. I need a Int'l/Global news channel so which is better BBC or SKY. I don't really care about financial news.

Thanks !

I've generally found Fox News a bit too conservative for my taste.

No clue about Sky, but I do tend to find BBC a bit err ... comforting in crisis. They don't have too many "oh my god the sky is falling" type anchors ( a couple ... but not too many ).

It says that he has Fox already!

I think that the BBC World news is a bit more "global" in its coverage, whereas Sky is a bit more UK/Europe focussed, so it depends what you want really.

prefer BBC. Their coverage of US events is quite entertaining and, wellllll, lets say a vast and refreshing contrast to the US' opinionated coverage.

If he has Fox already, why on earth would he consider subscribing to one of those other news channels?

Seriously though... BBC is worth a look. Very good coverage of lots of global issues the other networks never touch. Fairly unbiased if you ask me. If you have ABC Asia Pacific their news is good too.

BBC World for good solid world news.

Sky for magazine style UK news.

I find a mix of both the best solution.

Don't forget also that NOW has Deutsche Welle as a free channel. This is the German equivalent of the BBC, but much of their programming is in English - I've been quite impressed by their news coverage as well.

Laughing_Monkey will become famous soon enough
Fox: 'Fair and Balanced' ("deliberately and consistently distorted and twisted to promote the Republican Party of the U.S. and an extreme right-wing viewpoint.")

Always good for comedy value - if u take into account that its owned by Mr.Murdoch and never lets the truth stand in the way of a good news story...

Sky:
is also owned by Mr.Murdoch, but since its aimed at the British public who have a semi-decent education system and a range of factual news outlets (C4/BBC/ITV/Independant Newspaper etc) to gauge it against is fairly good - and slightly more dramatic than the BBC, though it can be selective in its coverage

BBC:
Generally reliable, mostly impartial, though usually can't help themselves when there is a chance to put an angle on something that suits their political position. Occasionally receives criticism in the UK for being pro-Arabic virtually to the point of incitement...

Basically depends what u want, i find a bit of everything and a pinch of salt the best option....
