but sometimes we (I mean local) are hardly understand the english joke... and if a joke is going to be explained then that is not funny anymore... but your suggestion is considerable anyways

I disagree with you about Singapore as Singapore national language is English. I used to work in Singapore. Culturally, singaporean are more open in terms of dealing with english native speaker than it is in Hong Konger.

I have to agree that Asians usually do not self-introduce themselves unlike people from overseas. It is how they brought up, but they do not mean to offend.
