paint keeps peeling!!!

OK, this is the deal...
Im helping my friend painting his new place, im not the expert but i have done my fair share of painting houses and walls, picket fences and what not.
But geez, does anyone know how to get the %^&*()*^&% paint from peeling and falling of the %^&* wall??
I tried this so far:

1. Prime the wall, result : useless the primer fell off

2. Prime the wall again using a rediculus thick coating, result: it feelt like i was glueing the paint to the wall using more paint.. that ofcourse 5min later started to peel and fall off.

3. Remove primer and blasterd the wall, addded new thiner coat of paint result : better now it doesnt peel in 10-20cm pices but in 2-3cm ones so it still fails

4. added water to the pain to make it thiner, result : good it didnt peal but the coating gets flamed, and after adding the 2nd layer of paint...guess what...yeah the god %^&** paint starts to peel again.

ARGH!!

Any suggestions what to do? because soon im heading down to a hardware store to buy a sledge and wack those walls down and replace them with plywood boards and spray paint them hehehhe :P

Sounds like the original plaster was poorly mixed and laid down. Unless your local hardware store has some magic solution you may well have to take it back to the wall and start from there.

Er, my guess would be that the walls are damp.

when i tried to paint the hallway in my flat, the same thing happened. i had painted two other flats in their entirety before and this had not happened. i went down to the hardware store and explained the situation. they gave me some stuff that looked like white glue. it is a water barrier. they said that i had to paint that onto the walls first, let it dry and then paint over top. i haven't gotten back to doing that yet. so i don't know if it will work or not.
but you can always give that a try. i would also run a dehumidifier while painting and DO NOT add water... to the paint... just makes the painting look crap.

cerberus is an unknown quantity at this point.
yep, sounds like my wall. every few seconds it puffs out a bit of dust and debris, peeling slowly. it's water getting inside that's causing it. HK construction standards to blame? dunno.

FWIW, When I last painted in HK, I did add water to the (latex-based) paint and it turned out fine. Maybe the problem is not too much water? Otherwise the paint is thick as molasses I found

ok i figured out what was needed...MAGIC!
well ok not really.. i actually went to buy another brand of primer / plaster.. and so far so good i must say.. this one stated it was "artificial" plaster.. what ever that is..but who cares it seems to work great.
i can drop the brandname here later if anyone is interested.
