Why is Wanchai area tacky? Which area are you referring to? Is it dangereous according to your experience? I am a newbie to HK and HK's bar scene so please advice.

The band at sticky fingers are really good, but the crowd is really bad! There are a lot of expat oldies who bring along their 'rent a dates' for the night, so if you're into that...

You may well be an "expat oldie" if you live that long. Don't knock it.

And I have to say that when I have been there, yes, the older gwailos were accompanied by Asian women, but, frankly, those women looked to me like steady girlfriends/wives, and were not much younger than the guys (it's just that Asian women age better, as we all know). I've seen only a few really young / bar girl / 30-year age difference situations there. Far less than in, for example, Insomia or Dusk 'til Dawn.

Are we talking about the same sticky fingers PDLM, there were a LOT of guys with girls at least 30-40 years younger than them, and they didn't look like 'steady girlfriends'. Lets just see it for what it is!

I guess maybe we just went on different nights. I'm not saying the Filipina bar girls don't go there, but on the (only two I admit) occasions I was there most of the women were within 15 years of the age of the guys.

But does this actually matter? The band is great (now that the management has stopped them accepting drinks from the audience too early in the set) and people are having fun. Who cares how old or young they are?

[Full disclosure (as the lawyers say) - I am currently pretty seriously involved with a Filipina more than 15 years younger than me. No I don't have to pay for the privilege.]

Er, no - I've met both Ed and KIA and they are definitely (very) different people.

They both see fit to ban me from time to time though - KIA more so than Ed so far.
