How do I get sponsorship for a work visa in Hongkong?

I am not a HK national or holding a HK permanent resident visa. I like to find a work an entry level job in HK. Can anyone give me an idea where I can search for companies that could sponsor foreign workers to HK? Thank you.

HK is a place where sometimes WP can be very difficult. It depends on what filed you work and what expertise you hold in the industry you work. generally they look for a talent which is not available in the people around in HK...

I am thinking if I would stay awhile in HK, on a visitor's visa, to look for a job a work for a working visa while there. Can I get a visitor's visa for more than two weeks? Everytime I go to HK, I was only given 14-day permission. I like a longer visitor's visa so I could go hunt for a job.

HI Karen, we seem to be in the same boat....I am also seeking work in HK and plan to go there in October to do just that. My field of expertise is Finances. My best bet to you is contact the employment agencies like Michael Page and Hudson and ask to meet for an interview. This is your best bet. JOBSDB.com in my opinion doesnt work. I tried that database last October when I was in HK sitting in a Pacific Coffee house in TST sending out 15 CVs a day to different employers and NO RESPONSE. Try the agencies. I have 2 interviews allready lined up for when I go.

hope this helps!

i would think that chances of getting an ENTRY LEVEL job would be very slim to none at best. you need to prove that you have something that locals haven't. this almost certainly means experience in the field.
when you make your application, you must include your CV and the company sponsoring you must prove that they tried to recruit locally and were unable to fill the post.

i do wish you luck in your endeavour!

ps. DO NOT tell immig that you want to extend your visa so you can look for work, they will throw you out fast. one of the conditions of a visitor visa is that you DO NOT look for work!

The length of stay permitted for a visitor's visa depends on the passport you are carrying. For Canadian passports I think it's three months.
