For free to air broadcast TV, US sets will only work in the (very rare) case that they are "multi-system", rather than simply NTSC. For cable and broadband TV you will be fine provided that the TV has Video-in and Audio-in sockets of some sort, but you will probably need a transformer unless (very rare again) your TV is multi-voltage. All in all it isn't really worth shipping TVs from the US in general.

I am moving from HK to the UK. I presume that going the other way, a HK TV will also work in the UK? Answer is probably pretty obvious but just thought I better double check. Also, has anyone experienced shipping a plasma over a long distance? Would I be better off selling it and buying one over in the UK (although I'd assume it'd be more expensive there)?

HK broadcasts in PAL I and so does the UK so you will be OK. However, if you are talking plasma then I don't know. Check the tv/tuner's manual for the "system" details. I think shipping would depend on whether you are shipping all your possessions anyway.

Pretty much all TVs sold in HK are multi-system so you'll have no trouble. Presumably your shipment would be insured, so any damage to the plasma would be covered.
