Question Domestic Helper

Hi, can anyone please tell me the legal procedure of hiring a domestic helper??
i was told the minimum amount+ ticket from phillipines to HK+ Insurance+ $2000 tax to be apd every 3 months.and that apart from the forms, i will have to submit my income tax details.

is this the only procedure or am i missing something??

If you're bringing in someone from the Phillipines, you'll have to pay an agency fee (not sure how much of that eventually ends up on the consul general / arroryo's slush fund)...

There you go ... if you hire a DH already here and not through an agency you'll save both on airline ticket and Agency Fee !!!

interesting reading ... im obviously bored at work ..

http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/public/wcp/FDHguide.pdf

Chapter 6 - maternity protection ... the DH is entitled to 10 weeks paid leave maternity. And presumably can return to work after give birth. but as the DH is live in does this mean that the new baby is also accomodated ?? seems a new born screaming baby in the house might not want you expected wehn you entered into a contract of employment

No is the simple answer. These are probably standard maternity laws in Hong Kong. They have to work for at least 40 weeks prior to this to get the 4/5ths pay for the 10 weeks.
