hmmm, depends on what you want to do. to me a small gesture eg even a bottle of nice plonk, is much nicer than something expensive. a pricey "thankyou" almost makes the receiver feel obliged to be nice, wheras a small one is like, "gee thanks for that". it is more than nothing, but less than an obligation. it IS the thought of the thankyou that counts, especially if it is from a person, NOT a business. so yes, 1000HK is a bit more than i would spend on a thankyou to someone i have only just met.
